An agreement to invest in the construction of a wind park in the Ulyanovsk Region has been signed at the ARWE 2019 International Forum on Renewable Energy. The document was signed by Ulyanovsk Region Governor Sergei Morozov, General Director of the Ulyanovsk Region Development Corporation Sergei Vasin and CEO of Germany’s EAB New Energy GmbH Andreas Lietzmann.
The German company will invest RUR 6.5 bln ($100 mio) in the project. The construction of a pilot wind park with a capacity of 75 MW will begin this year. The company is going to cooperate with Denmark’s Vestas in component delivery. The project also includes the creation of a regional center for wind farm maintenance.
According to the governor, plans call for reaching a generating capacity of 500 MW in the next few years. The region is going to transit to 30% renewable energy by 2025-2030.
