In Moscow, pensions are close to the average level at RUR 17,500 ($263); even more so in St. Petersburg, at RUR 14,924 ($225).

The Pension Fund explained that retirement benefits are affected by the application of ‘northern’ coefficients, as well as coefficients depending on the pensioner’s age and whether they have dependents with disabilities. The pensioner’s overall time in employment, former salary and other factors play a role as well.
