Perm to open Russia’s third largest technology park

A major private IT cluster, Morion Digital, will open in the Urals city of Perm. Investment in the tech lark project will total RUR 726 mio ($11 mio).

The new tech park will be built on the Morion plant grounds. The project investor, Perm Financial and Industrial Group (PFI Group), rezones and rebuilds old industrial premises. The project includes building a convention and exhibition center. The Ministry of Industry and Trade has already approved the Morion Digital project application.

PFI-Group CEO Georgy Tkachenko said the new technology park will help create jobs in the region – Morion plant will offer 2,500 more jobs in addition to the current 5,500. Morion Digital will occupy 86,000 sq m. meters, making the new tech park the third largest in Russia. Today, there are 30 resident IT companies; innovative startups are expected to open there later on.

Furthermore, another tech park will be built in Perm – the 17,000 sq m Technopark Perm. Its residents are expected to be earning RUR 1 bln ($15.1 mio) by 2020. There are 16 residents in the tech park now.
