Police officers will plunge into virtual reality

Moscow police officers will have augmented reality glasses that can recognize faces; the glasses are to help them quickly identify criminals.

The Moscow Mayor’s Office will purchase special glasses for police officers with a built-in VR app from the Ntechlab company. The company presented its technology when it was adding the function to smart glasses from the Japanese company Epson, Moskva24 writes. The presentation of police glasses will be held at the Interpolitex exhibition in October.

The Moscow Information Technology Department confirmed that the new technology is being tested, but the results of the experiment are still classified. It is only known that the new technology is being tested on urban video surveillance cameras – 1,500 cameras have been installed in Moscow and connected to databases of wanted people.
