Protection through the deployment of drones

Consensium, a merger of the Lower Austrian company Smart Digital and Atos IT Solutions und Services GmbH, the Austrian subsidiary of Atos, is now supporting the fight against the coronavirus with automated processes, artificial intelligence, blockchain and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV i.e. drones).

New solutions developed by Consensium ensure safe access controls by means of anonymised temperature measurements with stationary thermal imaging cameras or sensors. The innovative processes enable the use of drones to deliver pharmaceuticals or relief supplies to cordoned off areas or inaccessible areas as well as the surveillance of border regions. This counteracts a further spread of the COVID-19 virus through contact with other people and helps protect facilities such as hospitals, businesses and companies.

The solution “smart service for human protection” is deployed to regulate access controls. Within the context of the process, installed thermal sensors measure the temperature of the respective person at the entrance of a company (hospital, public authorities etc.). If the measurement shows a higher temperature, an automatic procedure is triggered which sends an alarm to the system. Access is limited for the time being and other steps are initiated, such as a medical examination and/or medical treatment for the feverish individual.
