Richard Cooper: Globalization has been severely compromised

Richard Cooper, Professor of economics at Harvard University, is an expert at the Gaidar Forum in Moscow, organized by the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration. Invest Foresight, the event’s strategic media partner, got a comment from Mr Cooper regarding the main challenges of 2020.

As Professor Cooper noted, “The policy dimension of globalization has already been severely compromised; the technical change dimension will continue, unless policy deliberately thwarts it. Digitalization will not lead to permanent outsiders, although the rate at which economies digitalize will vary greatly. Cryptocurrencies are not likely to have a major impact on the world economy, not least because they will be limited by regulation, and governments will not accept them for tax payments.”
