Rosneft, Equinor develop North-Komsomolskoye field

Rosneft oil company and Equinor ASA, the shareholders of SevKomNeftegaz, approved the decision to commence the first stage of development of North-Komsomolskoye field, Rosneft’s website reports.

SevKomNeftefaz company that develops the field was set up pursuant to the shareholder and operating agreement signed by RN-Exploration and Production (a subsidiary of Rosneft) and Equinor Russia AS (a subsidiary of Equinor ASA) in 2017. Rosneft holds a 66.67% share in SevKomNeftegaz, and Equinor holds a 33.33% share.

The first stage of North-Komsomolskoye field development envisages construction of the main and ancillary infrastructure in the coming years, including oil and gas treatment and transportation facilities, power facilities, and the drilling of development extended-reach wells with a step-out up to 2 km.

North-Komsomolskoye field development project is implemented within the framework of the agreements about cooperation reached between Rosneft and Equinor in 2013. In 2015-2019, the parties successfully performed pilot works in the field. Technical and geological project solutions were updated, extended-reach well drilling and completion technologies were tested, and actual production and productivity data were obtained as a result of the pilots.
