Smartphone prices go up in Russia

In 2019, Russians purchased fewer smartphones, while the prices are going up. According to retailers, the average selling price of a smartphone in Russia has grown by RUR 1K ($16).

According to MTS experts, the Russian smartphone market will grow by 1% in 2019 as compared to 2018. In terms of money, however, it will grow by 6%. According to Svyaznoy retailer, 30 mio smartphones were sold for a total of RUR 469 bln ($8 bln) in Russia in 2018. In 2019, sales volume reached RUR 501 bln.

Huawei smartphones are the most popular in Russia and take one third of the country’s smartphone market. They are followed by Samsung and Apple, which is significantly lagging behind. The average selling price of a smartphone grew from 16K to 17K in 2019, RBC news agency reports.
