Russia and Kyrgyzstan to discuss the development of investment mechanisms

The details have been announced for the business programme of the 8th Russian-Kyrgyz Interregional Conference ‘New Horizons for Strategic Partnership and Integration’, which will be held on 27–28 March 2019 in the Kyrgyz capital of Bishkek. The event is being organized by the Russian Ministry of Economic Development and the Kyrgyz Ministry of Economy with the support of the Roscongress Foundation. The event is timed to coincide with Russian President Vladimir Putin’s state visit to the Kyrgyz Republic.

The participants in the 8th Russian-Kyrgyz Interregional Conference will discuss ways to maximize integration potential within EurAsEC, bilateral cooperation within the framework of the EurAsEC digital agenda, the development of the agro-industrial complex of Russia and Kyrgyzstan taking into account transport and logistics potential, the development of investment mechanisms, and financial cooperation between the two countries.

“Russia and Kyrgyzstan are linked by partnership relations in numerous key areas, from the economy to tourism. Cooperation takes on particular importance within the framework of Eurasian integration. Thanks to the efforts of the heads of state, many issues have been settled and the necessary conditions have been created for the two countries to cooperate at both the state and regional levels. Russia and Kyrgyzstan should maintain the current course through joint efforts and also identify new areas of common interest. I am confident that organizing such bilateral conferences on a regular basis will further strengthen ties between our countries”, Advisor to the Russian President Anton Kobyakov said.

The first day of the conference will include thematic roundtables on key areas in which Russia and Kyrgyzstan cooperate as well as a seminar on the promotion of products on the markets of the two countries. There will be a pitch session by Russian and Kyrgyz companies during which the conference participants will present their investment projects. The programme of the opening day of the conference will conclude with an interactive Q&A session involving experts from the event. In addition, the conference will have a business networking area for entrepreneurs organized by the Russian-Kyrgyz Business Council, Russian Export Center, and the Investment Promotion and Protection Agency of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The central event of the business programme will be a plenary session attended by Russian Minister of Economic Development Maxim Oreshkin and Kyrgyz Minister of Economy Oleg Pankratov. The plenary session will be followed by ceremonies to sign bilateral agreements and memorandums on cooperation and economic integration between Russia and Kyrgyzstan.

A Forum of Rectors from Russian and Kyrgyz Universities titled ‘Development of Science and Education: Investing in the Future’ and the conference ‘The Youth of Russia and Kyrgyzstan: New Horizons for Cooperation’ will be held on the sidelines of the Conference.

Eight hundred delegates are expected to take part in the 8th Russian-Kyrgyz Interregional Conference, including high-ranking officials from Russia and Kyrgyzstan, business representatives, public figures, experts, and opinion leaders.
