The number of Russians whose disposable monthly incomes exceed RUR 75K is about 12% – workers of strategic industries such as the oil and gas industry, and IT.

About 37% of the oil and gas industry are lucky to make more than RUR 75K ($1,150) a month, RIA Novosti reports citing a RIA Rating study. Furthermore, 34% of fishermen make as much, but only those who go to sea. Bank employees have high salaries: 33% of Russian bank clerks have monthly incomes exceeding 75K. A quarter of all workers with salaries above 75K are in IT.

According to experts, the over RUR 75K bracket indicates what is seen as an average income; moreover, in poorer regions, such income is often considered high.

People employed in the light industry, education, agriculture and tourism apparently have the lowest incomes, below RUR 15K ($230) a month. Low wages are also found with low-skilled workers employed in various industries.
