Russia may face drug shortage

Experts have warned the Russian government about a possible shortage of drugs caused by mandatory drug labeling introduced on July 1, according to the Association of Drug Producers.

Medication can still be produced without labeling until October 1, provided that a production company obtained the approval of the competent inter-agency commission. Representatives of the pharmaceutical industry condemned these approvals as cumbersome and corrupt, Sekret Firmy reports.

Experts note that preparing supporting documents for such approvals is very time-consuming. As a result, many drugs are prevented from being imported to Russia. Companies have been asking for changes to the resolution that regulates unlabeled drug sales.

Currently, many pharmacies sell unlabeled drugs. However, experts warn that we may face a shortage in two or three months.
