Economic Development Minister Maxim Oreshkin was received by Vladimir Putin to report on the dynamics of national macroeconomic indicators, presidential web page reported.

According to the minister, 2018 GDP growth reached 2.3%, while investments were up by 4.3% (growth varies across industries though, and some are lagging behind; negative investment dynamics were noted, for example, in the oil and gas industry over the past year – despite high profits, which have increased substantially). In 2019, economic growth has slowed down and inflation reached a maximum of 5.3% in March. Yet he pointed out, “Inflation has passed its peak, and is now starting to slow down. By the end of the year, economic growth will also begin to accelerate and the forecast for the year is 1.3%.

Oreshkin also mentioned that Russia “moved up to the 31st place in the Doing Business rankings” which is certainly a positive indication.
