Russian Post experiments with supervisor robots

Russian Post conducted a pilot experiment involving Artificial Intelligence. AI-based robots that can recognize voices and faces were assigned to supervise employees and give advice on increasing productivity.

The company believes that the experiment will speed up customer service without violating the personal data protection law. However, last year, an online server using similar face recognition technology, FindFace, was shut down. The server could identify social media accounts based on users’ uploaded photos. The project had to be closed due to huge public criticism.

The new face and voice recognition project for Russian Post was only tested in the pilot mode, the company’s press service told Invest Foresight. The aim of the project is to increase employees’ efficiency.

This is not the first AI experiment for Russian Post. Last year CEO Nikolai Podguzov announced the development of a face recognition project for automatic identification of customers.
