Russia plans second innovation hub in the Urals

A ‘second Skolkovo’ is going to be developed in Yekaterinburg by 2028 – the $360 mio Tatishchev Innovation Center. More than half of the funding will come from private investors.

The new innovation center will be arranged in the likeness of the Skolkovo technological valley outside Moscow. The largest innovative companies in the region will become residents of the project; more than 20 businesses have already expressed interest.

Almost half of the RUR 24 bln ($364 mio) required by the project until 2028 will come from the federal and regional authorities, including RUR 5 bln ($76 mio) allocated from the federal budget, RIA Novosti reports. This money will be spent on infrastructure development. The remaining funds are private investment that companies will provide for the development of the project.

A plot of land in the Shartash area has been already allocated for the project.

Residents of the new innovation hub will enjoy tax benefits as well as support from the federal and regional governments.
