Russia set new record in investment in 2019

Last year, Russian businesses successfully raised a record amount of financing since the introduction of anti-Russia sanctions. Last year, foreign investment in Russian projects rose by nearly 50% from a year earlier.

Overall, foreigners invested almost $21 bln in Russian assets in 2019, significantly less than Russian investors – $40 bln. Still, it was a decent amount of financing from foreigners, RBC writes.

Experts note that foreign investors began to invest in Russian assets once the situation became more stable in the country. Russia managed to adapt to the sanctions, and investing in Russian assets became more profitable.
