The Russian Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment is preparing to ban the selling of single–use plastic products such as disposable plates and straws.
“The Ministry stands for eliminating plastic waste and we support the global trend to reduce the use of plastics. We are preparing for the changes, but we need time,” said Minister Dmitry Kobylin.
In mid-April the Russian State Duma suggested that plastic bags should be banned starting 2025.
In March 2019, the European Union has approved a law banning a wide-range of single–use plastic items, such as straws, cutlery and disposable plates starting 2021.Plasticsaccount for around 80% of marine litter, and the coastal European countries were eager to support the ban.
