Russian beer exports rise 26% in first half of 2025

Russia exported 92,000 metric tons of beer worth $47 million in the first half of 2025, marking a 26% increase compared to the same period in 2024, according to data from Agroexport.

In 2024, Russia produced 9.1 billion liters of beer, ranking fifth among the world’s top beer-producing countries, based on a report by German brewing consultancy BarthHaas. China remained the global leader with 34.1 billion liters, followed by the United States (18.4 billion liters) and Brazil (14.7 billion liters).

Despite their leading positions, all top-ranked countries saw a decline in production volumes compared to 2023. The only exception was Mexico, which moved up to fourth place with 14.5 billion liters — a 2% increase year-over-year.

Russia posted a 9% production growth, adding 740 million liters. As a result, it overtook Germany (8.4 billion liters) to enter the global top five. Total global beer production reached 187.5 billion liters in 2024. Germany, however, remained the world leader in hop cultivation area.

Russia’s Baltika Brewing Company ranked 12th among the world’s largest beer producers, according to the BarthHaas report.
