Russian engineers create diver robot

Alexandrit-ISPUM-E diver robot was developed by engineers of the Region company (Russia). The robot is designed to detect and defuse deep-water naval mines.

The robot was presented at the 9th International Maritime Defense Show in St. Petersburg, TASS reports. The robot can detect various types of mines at a depth of up to 300 m. Once submersed, the device will take mines in tow and destroy them. Unfortunately, the robot can’t be used during a severe storm. However, it can perform well at the sea swell of up to 3 degrees. The robot will be controlled by operators at a distance of 500 m and will move underwater at the speed of 3-6 m/s. It is expected that in the future minesweepers will be equipped with diver
