Labor Minister Anton Kotyakov has proposed increasing the minimum unemployment benefit to RUR 4.5K ($63).
Anton Kotyakov also proposed paying RUR 12.1K ($170) to the private entrepreneurs who were forced out of business.
Kotyakov noted that during the pandemic it is important to start paying aid to the citizens who lost their jobs. Currently, the unemployed get RUR 1.5K ($21) per month. The minister believes that this money is not enough. He proposed increasing the benefits for the next three months, Rossiyskaya Gazeta reports.
Kotyakov added that the unemployment will peak in the third quarter. Therefore, the effect of the lockdown on the labor market will become evident in about two months.
