
The total wealth of the richest Russians increased by over $36 bln between January and July 2019, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.
Bloomberg ranks Novatek CEO Leonid Mikhelson first on the Russian list. His net worth has increased by over $5.7 bln over the seven months and exceeded $25 bln. Forbes frequenter and Nornickel co-owner Vladimir Potanin came second with over $3 bln and $23 bln, respectively. Novolipetsk Steel (NLMK) primary shareholder Vladimir Lisin, who has repeatedly topped the Russian billionaires’ ranking, is now third and his wealth exceeds $20 bln (growth by over $3.2 bln).
Severstal co-owner Alexei Mordashov and Lukoil shareholder Vagit Alekperov round up the top five with their assets close to $20 bln and $19 bln, respectively. Therefore, metal tycoons dominate the top five.
Amazon creator Jeff Bezos remains the richest in the world with $115 bln. Facebook creator Mark Zuckerberg was ranked fifth (over $75 bln). The only non-US businessman in the world’s top five is 70-year-old French businessman Bernard Arnault, Chief Executive of LVMH Moët Hennessy — Louis Vuitton that specializes in luxury products, including purses, makeup, cognac, etc. Arnault’s net worth is over $100 bln.
