Russian Railways launches accelerator to seek innovative transport solutions

Russian Railways has joined forces with the GenerationS platform to launch an accelerator to seek innovative solutions for the transport sector. Applications to the new accelerator can be submitted until August 30.

One of the accelerator’s major goals is to find prospective competitive technologies that would increase railway transport safety. The most advanced projects will receive an opportunity for long-term cooperation with Russian Railways.

Participants will include startups that create developments for the locomotive complex, electric multiple units, rolling stock, high-speed rail service, and special-purpose rolling stock. The accelerator will also accept projects that aim to develop monitoring systems in these areas and introduce solutions in robotics and AR and VR technologies.

Applications are accepted from both Russian and CIS-based companies, with project appraisal to be conducted in mid-September.

According to Russian Railways Corporate Accelerator director Alexei Lokhmatov, the accelerator’s main aim is to find project that would reduce expenses for the use of rolling stock and help to improve it. Last year, seven startups became winners of the program, he noted.

Particular attention will be paid to projects that offer digital solutions, director of the GenerationS corporate accelerator Yekaterina Petrova said. She expressed confidence that the efforts will result in discovering efficient projects that will allow Russian Railways to reach a new technological level.
