Russians bought smartphones for a total of RUR 4.5 bln ($73 mio) ahead of the New Year, according to the Svyaznoy retailer and the Qiwi payment system.
Smartphones have been the most popular product sold in online stores since the beginning of December. On average, Russians are ready to pay RUR 22K ($355) for a mobile phone. Among other popular devices are laptops whose average price is higher: RUR 39K ($630), TASS news agency writes.
Headsets are also popular; Russians purchased 150K devices ahead of the New Year’s Eve for a total of RUR 600 mio.
