Russians spend most of their spare time networking and playing online games

Russians spend most of their free time gaming online, social networking, watching YouTube and using various reading apps. According to Mediascope analytic company, which has prepared a ranking of the most popular mobile apps in Russia, the most popular online game is Gardenscapes: Russians spend some 46 minutes playing it every day.

Gardenscapes, Russia’s most popular online game, is a combination of a puzzle and garden simulator. Players grow their own gardens, search for gnomes and earn stars, which is the currency of this virtual world that allows for reaching upper levels. Gardenscapes is followed by Homescapes, a similar game, Forbes reports.

The FBReader book reading app is the third most popular: Russians spend at least 40 minutes per day reading books on their phones. The app has the monthly audience of 1.5 mio.

YouTube, which has recently shown a rapid growth, ranks fourth. The audience of video bloggers is growing, and many of the popular bloggers have earned their first million rubles. Almost 29 mio Russians watch YouTube every day, spending at least 30 minutes on it.

And, finally, Pavel Durov’s project, the social network VKontakte ranks fifth with the monthly audience of 27 mio. The Russian social network surpasses Facebook, probably because VKontakte remains quite popular in Russian regions.
