Scammers are increasingly using credit cards to commit crimes. Over 10K related crimes have already been reported in Russia this year.

The Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs reports that between January and September, the number of crimes involving bank cards has soared by more than 400% compared to the same period last year. Criminals have carried out a total of 10.3K scams over the said months, Russia Today reports.
Moreover, the number of crimes involving IT has generally increased between January and September, by 69% year-on-year.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs did not comment on the reasons behind such a surge in crime. However, experts believe the answer is on the surface: electronic payments are becoming more and more popular in Russia.
