Scientist on how long quarantine will last in Russia

The duration of the ongoing quarantine will depend on how the epidemic develops, which is directly related to how many people will observe self-isolation and how many more Russians will return from abroad, said member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, microbiologist Viktor Maleyev.

The length of the current quarantine will depend on the number of people infected with COVID-19. As soon as their number starts to decline, the quarantine may be scaled down, Maleyev said in an interview for Tsargrad TV channel.

The expert added that it is necessary to wait out several days until the situation becomes stable as on one day the number of new cases may go down while the next day we may see a surge again.

The academy member added that currently, more people are getting infected inside the country although previously the rate of local transmission was only 10%.
