The Soyuz-2.1b middle-class carrier rocket with a Glonass-M navigation satellite has been successfully launched from the Plesetsk launch site (Arkhangelsk Region).
Thirty-seven launches of Soyuz-2 carrier rockets have been conducted at Plesetsk since the fall of 2004, including today’s launch, which is the first launch this year.
Currently, the Glonass orbital group consists of 26 satellites. Twenty-four are operational while another one is undergoing flight tests and the remaining satellite is in reserve. Almost 15 satellites are operating beyond their service life period.
