Swiss Krono to build wood processing plant in Kostroma Region

Russia’s largest wood processing plant will be built in Sharya, Kostroma Region. Switzerland-based Swiss Krono Group is going to invest over RUR 20 bln ($319 mio) in the project.

The Swiss Krono plant in Sharya is one the region’s largest wood processing enterprises. In 2018, the company completed a major three-year investment project to replace the production of particle board with a cutting-edge high-capacity technology line, and invested over RUR 4 bln ($64 mio) in the region’s economy. Last year, Swiss Krono made a decision to build the country’s largest wood processing plant in Sharya to produce oriented strand board. Starting 2021-2022, the plant will produce over 600K cubic meters of OSB and particle panels per year.
