Tambov Bacon enters foreign markets

Rusagro Group’s Tambov Bacon has launched the third production stage in the Tambov Region, namely the construction of pig farms and slaughter facilities with an annual capacity of 65,000 tons of pork.

In two years, the plant is expected to increase production from 4,800 heads to 6,500 heads. To that end, the mixed feed production facility will reach 555,000 tons per year. The first output is planned for 2019; the plant will run at full capacity by 2020.

The company works with Russian retail chains and exports to 11 countries. The investment in the new production stage will exceed RUR 12 bln ($186 mio).

“Last year, pork production in Russia grew by 6% as compared to 2017 and reached 4.9 mio tons,” expert in agricultural and food markets Natalya Chizh said. “The domestic demand is currently being met, and producers can begin exports.”
