Tatarstan launches new milk production facility

Udmurt agro-industrial company KOMOS GROUP has bought out Kazan Dairy Plant and implemented major modernization of the enterprise, with total investments in the project to reach RUR 3.5 bln ($55.2 mio).

The work to renovate the plant will be fully completed in 2021. The first stage has required RUR 1.6 bln. The finances were provided by the company and relevant state-owned banks, Gazprombank and agricultural bank Rosselkhozbank.

The ceremony to launch the modernized complex was attended by Head of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, Tatarstan Minister of Agriculture and Food Marat Akhmetov, KOMOS GROUP executive shareholder Andrei Shutov, and other officials.

“Tatarstan remains Russia’s major milk producing region along with the Krasnodar Territory and the Republic of Udmurtia”, agricultural and food market expert Natalya Chizh says. “Last year, Tatarstan produced over one million tons of milk, with its dairy products delivered all across the country, including the Moscow Region. Animal husbandry has been historically developed in the republic, and the new production facility will only cement Tatarstan’s position in the Russian market”, she emphasized.
