The Mytishchi corvette completes trials, will start service with the Navy by yearend

The first Project 22800 corvette, Mytishchi, has completed see trials and was delivered to the Russian Navy on December 17, the Defense Ministry reported.

The new missile corvette class, Project 22800, was developed after sanctions were imposed on Russia. According to Defense Ministry sources, it was done to cover the gap in building larger ships, as Russian shipyards can no longer import engines for them due to the sanctions.

The Defense Ministry plans to order a total of 18 such corvettes at RUR 2 bln ($30 mio) each.
