Three new electrical substations have been launched in Yamal for the oil production companies. The substations will provide electricity to the Russkoye, Zapolyarnoye and Pyakyakhinskoye oil and gas fields.
The substations, Iskonnaya, Yermak and Slavyanskaya, were built by the Federal Grid Company (FGC UES) in the Tazovsky and Pur counties of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area. Their total capacity is 505 MVA. In addition, the region built 450 new electric power lines that connect the substations with each other and with the Urengoiskaya State District Electric Power Station.
The project cost was RUR 22.2 bln ($350 mio). The construction of the Slavyanskaya substation was the most difficult due to its location beyond the Arctic Circle. Some of the construction equipment was delivered there by helicopters.
