Unusual jobs offered by Russian employers

Rabota.ru, a Russian job service, explored the job openings posted on the website this month and released a ranking of the most unusual offers from Russian employers.

One of Moscow companies, for example, is in great need of a fabric designer. This rare professional will be in charge of designing and testing new fabrics for RUR 50K ($700) per month.

A 3D printing studio needs a miniature sculptor to create tiny figurines of birds, animals and people. The salary will depend on the candidate’s talent.

An Omsk branch of a major Russian bank needs… No, not a manager, a cashier or a financial analyst but a scriptwriter. The lucky person will be developing scripts for customer service bots.

A hotel in Yalta is in desperate need of an experienced rescue sailor. Kuban orchards need black cherry pickers (no previous experience is necessary).

In its last year’s ranking, Rabota.ru listed the following unconventional job openings: a caviste (an expert in premium alcohol), a root processor (responsible for carefully peeling and cutting fruits and vegetables), a sling operator (tying freight is an art of its own) and an experienced dough maker.

The labor market is going through some difficulties right now. After the pandemic, employers are less interested in more salespeople, HR staff, marketing, advertising and PR professionals.
