World’s data to exceed 175 zettabyte

The Big Data is growing bigger. In the next seven years, the amount of data will increase five times and reach 175. In 2018 the total amount of data was only 33 zettabyte, according to a research by IDC and Seagate Technology.

The Big Data is growing due to the increasing number of new internet users who publish large sets of new data every day. By 2025, 75% of the world population will be working with some kind of information, Rossiyskaya Gazeta reports. By 2025, the gigabytes per capita will be growing at the rate of 21% per year. In 2025, an average internet user will interact with data every 18 seconds.

More and more data will be created by Internet of Things devices. By 2025, the share of non-recreational data will increase and account for two-thirds of the entire amount. The amount of critical data, specifically, for car autopilot face recognition systems will be growing by 32% per year while the data related to artificial intelligence will be growing by 68% per year.
