Zuckerberg advised against buying Kaliningrad

Igor Ivanenko, an expert at the Institute for Russian Diaspora independent think tank (Russkie.org), PhD in political studies, advised Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg to buy another region instead of the Kaliningrad Region, according to the Novostnoi Front agency.

Earlier, the media reported that Mark Zuckerberg made an offer to buy Russia’s Kaliningrad Region because Russia was faced with economic problems. Zuckerberg allegedly wrote directly to Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev asking him to consider the possibility of selling part of Russia’s territory for the American IT entrepreneur to create a new state.

Igor Ivanenko noted that the Kaliningrad Region is not a depressive area, so he advised Zuckerberg to buy Southern Bessarabia (located on the territory of Ukraine and Moldova) instead – because it really needs funding.
