BelAZ showed a dump truck on LNG

The premiere of the BelAZ-7530R mine dump truck on liquefied natural gas (LNG) at the Coal of Russia and Mining – 2026 exhibition has become one of the most notable events for the mining industry, Alexei Ivanov, owner of the Alliance Trucks network of commercial transport dealerships, says.

The project reflects the growing interest of manufacturers and consumers of heavy equipment in alternative fuels and the search for ways to increase the efficiency of quarry transport.

One of the key advantages of the new model is the potential reduction in operating costs. According to the Belarusian manufacturer, the use of LNG can provide significant savings compared to traditional diesel solutions. Given the high share of fuel costs in the cost of mining, this factor can be of serious importance for mining companies.

The environmental aspect remains no less important, the expert adds. Gas engine technology allows reducing the volume of harmful emissions compared to diesel counterparts; that corresponds to the global trend towards increasing the environmental efficiency of industrial production. For enterprises, this may become an additional argument in the implementation of sustainable development programs and modernization of production facilities.

“From a technological point of view, BelAZ-7530R is a modern solution that combines a 2335 hp gas piston engine, traction electric drive and electronic control systems. The manufacturer also paid attention to the working conditions of the operator, modernizing the cabin and expanding the set of digital tools for monitoring the state of technology,” Alexey Ivanov emphasizes.

In his opinion, the company’s long-term strategy for the development of the gas engine direction is of particular interest. The announced plans to expand the range of LNG equipment and conduct tests of vehicles of various payloads indicate a systematic approach to the development of this segment.

An important stage will be the practical operation of equipment in real production conditions. Cooperation with large mining enterprises will allow to assess the actual effectiveness of the new model, its reliability and operational characteristics during long-term work in quarries.

At the same time, the further distribution of gas engine equipment will depend not only on the characteristics of the machines themselves, but also on the development of the relevant infrastructure, the entrepreneur is sure. The organization of LNG supply and storage directly at production sites will require additional investments and the development of logistics solutions.

“In general, the BelAZ-7530R can be considered as one of the most interesting projects in the segment of heavy mining equipment in recent years. Its future prospects will be determined by the results of trial operation, economic efficiency for consumers and the pace of development of gas engine fuel infrastructure in the mining industry,” the expert sums up.
