Solar power plant built in Omsk Region

The first solar power plant has been launched in the Omsk Region with the participation of the Omsk Oil Refinery, part of Gazprom Neft.

The 1-MW solar power plant covers an area of 2.5 hectares and uses 2.5K solar panels. The panels were manufactured by the Russian company Hevel.

The power plant will be able to meet the electricity demand of the Omsk Oil Refinery administrative buildings, and also provide electricity for its amenity and staff building which accommodates 2.6K employees.

As of January 1, 2019, Russia had solar power plants that produced a total of 834 MW of electric energy. Although this is a large amount, solar energy accounts for only 0.3% of Russia’s total energy production.
