Cars we lost in May

In May, Russians lost as many as seven car models as they will no longer be available on the country’s automobile market, the Avtostat news agency reports.

The changes affected very diverse classes of vehicles and a range of target audiences.

The commercial vehicles segment has thinned as the Renault Dokker, the Dokker Stepway or the Dokker Van are no longer on sale in Russia. These models have only been in Russian showrooms for three years, which is not long, and their prices were relatively low – from RUR 905K ($13K).

Fans of innovative cars will no longer be able to buy a BMW i8 in our country – the plug-in hybrid sports car developed by the Stuttgart company and powered by a turbocharged 1.5-liter three-cylinder gas engine with two electric motors was available for only two years. In terms of affordability, it was far from cheap – from RUR 9.5 mio ($135.7K) for BMW i8 Coupé, or RUR 11.5 mio ($161.1K) and up for the i8 Roadster.

The termination of sales of two popular crossovers from the Chinese brand Haval, H2 and H6, was even more unexpected. Those two cars not only held first places in terms of sales, only recently taken over by the F7, but were also relatively inexpensive – the basic configurations started from just over a million rubles.

The wealthiest part of Russian buyers also suffered losses among their preferred models.

Starting this summer, the Bentley Mulsanne will no longer be available in Russia. The flagship product of the English premium cars manufacturer was priced at RUR 21 mio ($294.4K). However, the premium limousine will probably be replaced by a new large crossover, while those who prefer sedans will be able to purchase the Flying Spur.
