David Engerman: Populist instability to create shock waves

Invest Foresight, as a strategic media partner of the Gaidar Forum in Moscow organized by the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration, approached Mr David C. Engerman, Leitner Professor of Department of History at Yale University and a Forum expert, to find out his view of the global economic development in the upcoming year.

According to Professor Engerman, “Major growth areas are likely to be connected to energy resources, especially oil, while the major economic challenges will in fact be political in nature: populist instability across western and Central Europe, South Asia – and of course the United States – is likely to create shock waves in unpredictable directions.”
