Diamond sales down by a quarter

ALROSA Group, the world’s largest diamond miner, reports that its total sales in 2019 amounted to $3.273 bln for rough diamonds and $64.7 mio for polished diamonds. That constitutes a 26% drop compared to 2018, when company sold rough diamonds worth $4.412 bln and polished diamonds worth $95.3 mio.

According to ALROSA Deputy CEO Evgeny Agureev, 2019 saw sales by diamond producers worldwide drop by almost a third from the previous year. At the same time, there is robust demand for jewellery from end consumers.
