The year 2019 will see an increased demand for manual labor jobs, and blue-collar workers can expect a wage growth, a survey by HeadHunter job portal says.
In 2018, the number of such job openings grew by over 200%. Among the most popular blue collar jobs are drivers, couriers, retail store assistants and b2b sales managers, said Natalya Danina, head of the Wage Database, a HeadHunter project. According to Danina, the two areas with the slowest-growing salaries are the restaurant and hotel industry, and instrument-making.
IT experts, namely software developers, have the highest salaries. In Moscow, their average monthly salary is RUR 130K ($2K). They are followed by consulting experts in IT, databases, construction and sales.
“The labor market is a direct reflection of what is going on in the Russian economy. There were no major surges or falls in 2018, so the labor market is quite stable,” Danina said. “The growing number of job applications means that people want to find better job offerings. During crises people are less willing to search for a job while the number of job offerings drops.”
