Experts from the Autostat analytic agency found out in what regions people purchase new cars more often. As expected, Moscow topped the list.
The volume of the Russian market of new cars has reached 1.13 mio vehicles in the nine months of 2019. This is 2% less than in the same period of 2018. Muscovites prefer to purchase new cars most often, accounting for 14% of the new car market. In all, between January-October 2019, 158K new cars were bought in Moscow; it is 6% less than in the same period of 2018.
The Moscow Region ranks second: it takes 9% of the market. In the first nine months of 2019, Moscow Region residents purchased 101K new cars, Autostat reports. St Petersburg takes the third place with 6.6% of the market and 75K newly purchased cars in the first nine months of 2019.
Experts note that these tree regions cover 35% of the new car market in Russia. They are followed by Tatarstan, the Krasnodar Territory, Bashkortostan, Samara, and the Sverdlovsk, Rostov and Chelyabinsk regions.
