Italian entrepreneurs determined to work in Russia – FM

Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s interview with La Stampa Italian daily has been published by the Foreign Ministry’s website.

Because of the anti-Russian sanctions, “Trade has been hit hard. Bilateral trade dropped from $53.8 bln in 2013 to $26.9 bln in 2018. Available estimates show that the Italian manufacturers’ losses total about $2 bln,” Lavrov noted. Yet “Italian entrepreneurs are firmly determined to continue to work in Russia and are very concerned about the current state of affairs. For our part, we are ready to help your companies make a transition from mostly supplying to Russia products marked Made in Italy to production cooperation based on the Made with Italy principle with an emphasis on localizing manufacturing in Russia.”

“Against the backdrop of the changing global economy structure, interaction in the field of innovation, including digital services, artificial intelligence, and waste-free production, is becoming increasingly important. The annual INNOPROM exhibition in Yekaterinburg is a good platform for discussing these matters and establishing mutually beneficial business contacts. In July, Italy will become a partner country of the exhibition,” FM said.
