Kaluga Region to produce bandages and essential drugs

The Kaluga special economic zone has acquired two new residents.

The first resident is BioRIM that plans to build a facility producing a wide range of medication. Specifically, these include 44 drugs, in liquid and solid form, that are on the list of full-cycle essential medicines.

These drugs have quite broad areas of medical application, from treating various infections and alleviating diabetes to fighting tumors. Other conditions treatable by the company’s products include autoimmune and cardiovascular diseases.

The second company now residing in the Kaluga special economic zone is BAZIS. Another representative of the pharmaceutical industry, it will produce elastic medical bandages, with expected capacity of up to 6 million items per year.

The total investment required to realise both projects is around RUR 8.3 bln ($132.8 mio).
