The innovative vehicle was tested in Kazan at a plant’s testing ground. The vehicle drove with no driver involvement. The data on its movement was transmitted to dispatchers via a specifically designed 5G network. During the tests, the speed of the vehicle did not exceed 10 kilometers per hour, even though according to its designers, it may drive at up to 110 kmh.

KAMAZ-1221 can accommodate 12 passengers thus becoming a competitor to GAZ cars manufacturer’s minibuses which are currently widely used around the country for passenger transportations. Mass production of electric minibuses is expected to start within three to four years.
