A quantum blockchain has been invented by Russian researchers. The technology is designed to protect online wallets from misuse of the quantum computers of the future. Specialists believe that such computers may be capable of cracking blockchain accounts. Yet the new quantum blockchain technology will not permit cybercriminals to accomplish their goals, thus ensuring a cryptocurrency’s safety.

“Last year, a quantum blockchain was tested in cooperation with Gazprom Bank”, Yury Kurochkin, Quantum Communications group leader at the Russian Quantum Center, says. “Following the tests, the software is to be developed to be fully ready for an industrial implementation. The main issue is selecting practical tasks”.

Invest Foresight has already reported that over the first six months of 2018 cybercriminals have stolen various cryptocurrencies worth $1.1 bln.
