Migrants in Russia are demanding higher wages than Russians, according to a survey by the Worki job search service.

The survey found that the Russian labor market is torn by cut-throat competition. As a result, Russians seeking linear low-skilled jobs are asking for wages 6% lower than applicants from other countries, TASS reports.

Migrants applying for driver jobs have the highest salary expectations. They ask for RUR 54.5K ($853) per month on average while Russians are willing to work for RUR 47K ($735). The smallest gap is between the expectations of foreign and Russian job seekers interested in sales and receptionist jobs where migrants want RUR 25.5K ($399) on average while Russians will go for RUR 25K ($391).

Worki conducted the research between October and November 2019 and analyzed 1.7K replies to job openings.
