Five driverless cars are being tested in Moscow, soon to be joined by several dozens of other self-driving vehicles.

The experiment conducted by Yandex was ordered by the City Government. The test route has not been revealed; however, it is reported that the robotic cars will be primarily tested on the Moscow Ring Road, the Third Transport Circuit and outbound highways. Vehicles may also be seen in the city center, Izvestia reports.

Over a hundred driverless cars will hit the roads in Moscow before the end of the year. The experiment involves Level 4 self-driving cars with a high degree of automated driving that can operate without any driver participation.

Earlier, the Avtonet national technology initiative proposed to expand the number of test regions to ten. Currently, the cars are tested only in Moscow and Kazan.
