A St. Petersburg company called O.Vision has introduced its own method of inhibiting COVID-19 pandemic escalation: turnstiles that can recognize faces and measure body temperature. O.Vision is a resident company of the Ingria Business Incubator in St. Pete.
The O.Gate is a new contactless biometric device for access control. It can be installed on any turnstile and is reported to be able to recognize the face of a person within 0.2 sec; the person doesn’t even have to stop or slow down to be recognized at all.
While the recognition system does its part of the job, a special sensor instantaneously measures the temperature of the person’s body. If it’s above a given threshold (e.g., 37.5°C), the system immediately sends out a signal that automatically shuts the turnstile, and also sends a report to the administrator web terminal. If the temperature is within norm, the person can enter without any card, key or ID, and the turnstile logs the time of his entry.
