Nizhny Novgorod Region opens nanopolymer plant

A plant in the Nizhny Novgorod Region has begun to roll out polymers modified with the help of nanotechnology.

The new plant has opened in Dzerzhinsk, not far from the city of Nizhny Novgorod – the first facility in Russia to manufacture such products under the government’s import substitution program, according to the head of the region, Gleb Nikitin. Investment in the new facility was about RUR 340 mio ($5.5 mio).

For reference, the so-called nano-modified polymers and other such composite materials are widely used in many industries, for example, in heavy and oil and gas engineering, fuel and energy, and even in medicine.
