A recruiter robot named Vera has begun hiring electric train drivers. The robot answers incoming calls and selects candidate letters.
The robot has talked with 3,500 job applicants since October 2018. Vera is capable of asking clarifying questions, and these questions are different – she runs on a set of various algorithms for interviewing train drivers, ticket cashiers and ticket inspectors. The robot spends about 3 minutes communicating with each candidate, cramming about 10 questions in the short telephone interview. The answers are usually enough to determine whether the applicant is suitable for the position, TASS reports. If the answers are satisfactory, the candidate is invited for a live interview.
The robot answers calls around the clock, handling twice as many calls in a month as a live employee would do. However, Vera has not yet stripped HR specialists of their jobs – they still have to interfere if the call gets disconnected or there is a need to ask some additional questions.
